February 4 – Third skiing competition has concluded in Muktinath, Mustang on Monday. The competition was organised by Nepal Ski Association to promote mountain tourism through winter game.
The Association has been organizing winter mountain game annually since 2016. This year over 40 players, including senior and junior category, participated the competition held on Sunday and Monday at Mustang.
Addressing at the function held to distribute prizes to the winners, the parliamentarian Jeevan Ram Shrestha , chair of Nepal Olympic Committee and the Nepal Ski Association said that the Ski Association is working for setting the Ski resort in Nepal and given his words for the betterment of the winter games.
Although Nepal is a mountainous country with huge potential ski mountaineering in Nepal is still in a nascent stage said Bijay Shrestha, the general secretary of the Association. He further added that due to the lack of education and promotion such opportunities have remained unexplored though Nepal already have natural resources for skiing.
Jeetendra Shrestha, treasurer of the Association , Bhimsen Rajbahak of Nepal Olympic Committee, and other sport personalities were also present at the event.
