June 21 – Rastriya Pahichan Samrachhan Samyukta Sangharsha Samiti has begun the signature campaign on Friday  in a bid to create pressure, demanding the government scrap a bill that stands to interfere with a centuries-old trust system Guthi integral to the cultural heritage as well demanding resignation of three ministers, namely Home Affairs, Information and Communication and Land Reform Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation.

The bill, which seeks to nationalize centuries-old community and religious trusts, is among several registered by the current communist government in recent months that has triggered a public outcry and accusations of narrowing civil space and freedom.

The campaign has been launched at Pipal Bot, New Road.

Meanwhile the Save Nepa Valley Movement has called the black out program on Saturday from 7:30 pm for 15 minutes as the solidarity against the controversial Guthi bill tabled in the Upper House.
