August 16 – Renowned poet Purna Vaidya’s two books, Laa Laa Khaa including the English translation (Drops of Water) and Kavitaya Lagaa have been unveiled amid the program held in Kathmandu on Thursday. The Centennial Personality and Senior Satya Mohan Joshi released the books amid the program organized jointly by the Siddhidas Pratishthan and Kutaa Pikaak.
Speaking at the program presided over by Narendra Bhakta Hada, the president of the Pratisthan, the Centennial Personality Joshi expressed his deep desire to see a work written in any language of Nepal take the international award like the Nobel Prize, wishing Vaidya’s work translated into English to win the international award.
In the program, Member Secretary of Nepalbhasha Academy Malla K Sundar, Prof. Prem Shanti Tuladhar, Bimal Tamrakar of Pithana and Amar Bajracharya of Pratishthan also kept their views.
Likewise, the litterateur Vaidya threw light on his creations, including how he has woven his expression in his recently unveiled works.
After the program, Bhimsen Risal’s group presented a comedy titled ‘No Makhu Dan Kameya’.
Unveiled Laa Laa Khaa’s English translation Drops of Water is translated by Wayne Amtzis and Kritish Rajbhandari, and edited by Sylvia Razopadhyay, on the other hand, the Kavitaya Lagaa includes Vaidya’s notion on poems or poets in various books published from 1102 to 1138 NS.
