August 9 – The Metropolitan Police have shot two robbers in Swoymbhu and arrested them in charge of giving threat to Govinda Bahadur Khadka, Chief of Likhu rural municipality of Ramechap district, demanding 20 million rupees.
Milan Lama aka Lopchan was shot below the knee as he tried to flee, said Crime Division SSP Sahukal Bahadur Thapa. Amrit Tamang was also arrested along with Lama.
Likhu chief Khadka had approached the police after the duo had threatened him to kidnap his daughter and murder her if he does not pay Rs 20 million to them.
“After we received the information that Lama had threatened Likhu Chief Khadka to kidnap his daughter and kill her, we started investigating into the case,” SSP Thapa said.
“We learned that Khadka had been receiving threats from Lama for the past one month.”
A team of police had reached Junghu café of Bijeshwori Housing looking for Lama.
Lama, who received two bullets, has been undergoing treatment at the National Trauma Centre in the capital.
According to the police, Lama is a professional gangster. He has been found involved in a series of extortion.
Before, Lama had threatened Kamal Kadariya of Likhu Hydro Company and taken Rs 3 million from him. He had also taken Rs 2 million from a contractor in Ramechhap.
