June 29 – The House of Representatives (HoR) on Friday endorsed the budget for the fiscal year 2019/20 with majority votes.
A meeting of the Lower House of the Federal Parliament has endorsed three bills related to the budget – Financial Bill, National Debt Recovery Bill and Debt and Guarantee Bill.
All these three bills are dependent to the Appropriation Bill -2019/20 (the annual estimates of the income and expenditure of the government) which was already endorsed by the House.
Refusing 29 amendment proposals registered by the opposition party and lawmakers, the Lower House endorsed the budget document.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli was also present in the House meeting today.
The endorsement has cleared the way to make income or spend on different titles for the government in the next fiscal year.
Minister for Finance Dr. Yuba Raj Khatiwada had presented the proposal in the meeting seeking endorsement of the bills.
Dr. Khatiwada had presented the annual budget for the next fiscal year on May 29. After that, lawmakers debated on the bills and budget programmes.
In the budget discussion session of the federal parliament, most of the lawmakers from the ruling Nepal Communist Party had appreciated the government for increasing the allowance of elderly citizens, salaries of bureaucrats and other programmes.
