August 9 – Traders have shut down their businesses in Ason to protest against the government decision to make PAN mandatory  and VAT on Friday.

According to local trader Amulya Tuladhar, traders have shut down their businesses in Ason to protest against the government decision to make PAN mandatory and VAT.

The Inland Revenue Department has urged everyone involved in business and offices for income to maintain personal account number (PAN) compulsorily. The government has also adopted One Person: One PAN policy with the announcement of this year’s budget. The government has come up with a policy of making PAN compulsory for the payment over Rs 1,000 to be effective from this fiscal year. Traders have been raising voice against this Government’s move.
